New Enterprise Allowance Phase 2


We work with customers who have an existing business as well as those thinking about self-employment for the first time. The support we offer includes, but is not limited to:

New Business Start-Ups: Advice and training to assist individuals with starting and running their own business, ensuring a successful transition off-benefits, including support from a designated business mentor to help with:

  • Designing a business model
  • Assessment of business skills
  • Developing a marketing strategy
  • Book keeping
  • Finding and applying for funding
  • Sales skills and customer service
  • Creating a business plan

Universal Credit Existing Businesses: Support for those who are already self-employed to help increase earnings and make the business successful, ensuring they exceed the Universal Credit Minimum Income Floor, including:

  • Business analysis
  • Revising marketing
  • Financial recalculations: maximising profit by reducing expenditure
  • Creating a business growth and development plan

Eligibility Criteria: The provision is open to:

New Business Start-Ups:

Aged 18 and over and claiming:

  • Jobseekers Allowance
  • Employment Support Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Universal Credit

Universal Credit Existing Businesses:

Currently self-employed and:

  • Claiming Universal Credit
  • Not yet reaching the Minimum Income Floor
  • Not previously participated in NEA provision
