Standguide have introduced a course for those on JSA, UC, ESA (WRAG) that is specifically designed for people whose native tongue is non-English and who are POST ESOL or have Speaking and Listening Skills at Entry Level 2 English.
Claimants will be assessed by Standguide staff before starting the course.
The provision is not suitable for people with little or no spoken English.

How long is the course?
It is delivered over 8 weeks, 2 days a week, 6 hours per day.
9:30am – 4:00pm (including a 30 minute lunch break).
Week 6 is based around a work placement.

Where does the training take place?
We will be delivering this course within the boroughs of Greater Manchester;
Bolton, Rochdale, Tameside, Stockport, Wigan, Bury, Oldham.

About the course
This course has been designed specifically to help non-native English speakers find work. We will work closely with participants to strengthen their existing English skills assisting them to improve their CVs and cover / spec letters. We will also ensure that they are prepared enough in reading, talking and listening so they can attend any interview and be fully confident answering questions.

The course is very interactive and involves group exercises, active discussions, role playing and mock interviews. After the work placement there will be a consolidation session in which participant’s present feedback on what they have learnt. They will also have a one to one session with an Employer Relations Advisor to help them progress into the workplace.
